For a parent, the most difficult part is to let go off their kids.
No parent would want their child to die in front of their eyes. But this nightmare came to life for Benik Afobe last year as he had to bury her 2 years old daughter.
For the first time, after it happened, Benik Afobe has finally spoken about it. He has even thanked every single person who has helped their family to get moving in this period of struggle as they received tons and tons of messages from people wishing them well being and strength.
Amora Afobe, the 2 years old young girl was born with a rare kidney condition. By the time she turned two, her infection had become worse. She was left brain dead and doctors had no other option than turning her life support off.
Afobe said it was unbearable and it was killing them when they had to grant their permission to the doctors at Royal Stoke University Hospital to turn the life support off.
He said they were not ready for it but it had to be done.
Afobe said that the entire family was present in the hospital when they had decided to pull off the switch. They had said a prayer and kissed her goodbye before turning the switch off.
He said that he remembers the day as clear as water. The baby girl was lucky and was surrounded by love and her precious family when she was walking out of this world and they are going to treasure her memory forever.
He says that while everyone was left heartbroken, it was him and his wife Lou who decided to keep it positive. They would then go away from everyone and cry alone inside a locked room for hours together missing their baby girl.
