The university took to Twitter to announce the news on Wednesday with a picture of Matthew McConaughey with several students in a classroom.point 424 | 1
The Tweet read in recognition of his personal investment and professional pedigree in student success, McConaughey has been appointed a Texas Moody professor of practice, and that he will continue to teach the UT Script to Screen class in UTRTF.
The Dallas Buyers Club star is a visiting professor at the university. He has been visiting since 2015. Recently, he has been co-teaching the class alongside director Scott Rice.
McConaughey said that he wishes he would be in this class when he was in film school. He admitted that working with these students in the classroom gives him a chance to prepare them.
He further added that turning words on paper into film, making movies, is both art and science, despite the generation and time.
According to him the elements of genuine joy and truth for the process are timeless, and this will always be the classroom focus.
The actor graduated from UT Austin in 1993 with a film degree. He has also become the Minister of Culture since then for the university in a role meant to generate memorable fan experience for UT’s latest basketball arena which will open in 2021.
McConaughey won the Oscar for his role in Dallas Buyers Club in 2014.
