The adopted girl who was accused of being a ‘grown woman’ broke down in tears after a doctor confirmed her ‘real age’.
Natalia Grace made headlines after her story was featured in a docuseries ‘The Curious Case of Natalia Grace.’
The show followed a couple named Kristine and Michael Barnett who adopted what they thought was a 6-year-old girl from Ukraine in 2010.
But they started to become suspicious of Natalia and accused her of trying to hurt them and their biological children.
The couple then questioned her age, claiming that she was actually an adult woman with bad intentions.
Two years after the Barnetts adopted Natalia, the couple petitioned Marion County Probate Court to change her age to 22, which would then change her birth year from 2003 to 1989. This would mean she would now be 34 years old, a claim she firmly denied.
Natalia has now given her side of the story in Investigation Discovery’s docuseries, ‘The Curious Case of Natalia Grace: Natalia Speaks.’
The series also featured Dr. Halland Chen at TruDiagnostic, who took a sample of her blood to determine her ‘chronological age.’
The tests then revealed that she was actually ‘closer to 22’ in age, which they said was ‘pretty close to what you think, you’re almost 20, that’s within 2 years.’
As the doctor shared the results, Natalia broke down in tears and said: “This one little piece of paper throws every single lie the Barnetts have said right into the trash, with a match. This is so big, this has been 12 years of just two people, lying their butts off. They ruined a kids’ life.”
“They painted them as a big monster when in reality, they were the ones. It just proves I was not lying about my age,” Natalia continued.
“They ignored everything that was pointing to the truth, just so they could have this stupid lie. They knew it and they still did what they did.”
