Alyssa Milano has been slammed on social media after she started a fundraising page and asked fans to donate for her son’s youth baseball trip.
The actress and her husband, David Bugliari, set up a GoFundMe page for their son’s 12U baseball squad to help the team with their travel expenses.
“My son’s baseball team is raising money for their Cooperstown trip,” she wrote.
Milano continued: “Any amount would be so greatly appreciated. You can read more about the team and make a donation here,” she then shared a link to the page with a $10,000 target.
Even though the funds would benefit not only her son but the entire team, fans were quick to express their disapproval and questioned why the actress had to resort to crowdfunding.
One person commented: “Why isn’t Alyssa Milano paying for the trip for the whole team herself? Why is she asking for money from people who can barely buy groceries.”
Another wrote: “I’m trying not to be salty but Alyssa Milano asking for donations for her son’s baseball team while I’m trying to refill all my life-saving meds before the end of this month due to tech layoffs is sending me.”
But others defended and supported Milano, with one person saying: “Sounds like a great trip, Alyssa. Hope he has a fantastic time.”
Another commented: “Made a small but heartfelt contribution. Sounds like a great experience for them.”
As of this writing, the page has raised more than $8,400 of its $10,000 goal. According to the description, funds will go to travel expenses, dues for families, and uniforms.
