An angry woman has spoken out and sought advice after her husband poured water on her “revealing” dress.
As the lady in question explained, she and her husband were getting ready for her brother’s wedding when she wore a knee-length dress with shoulder straps only for her husband to confront her and insist she change because the gown was “too revealing.”
After standing her ground, the woman was in for another shock when her partner poured cold water all over her and her dress to force her into changing her outfit before the event.
“My husband didn’t want me to wear it and said he thought it was ‘too revealing.’ I told him to relax and take it easy since the wedding was small and no strangers would be there,” the wife explained in her viral Reddit post.
“Besides I thought the dress was fine not too revealing like he said. He kept arguing with me about it and told me to wear something else but I refused.”
She continued: “He waited until I was wearing it then splashed water all over it. I was in shock! The water was too cold and it covered my whole body, not just the dress. It also got on my face and hair! I froze there in shock and began to cry really loud.”
As the woman added, the pair were already ready to leave their home and go to the wedding when the incident happened. After her dress got wet, however, she was forced to change and didn’t even have the time to dry herself properly.
Refusing to apologize for his actions, the man then allegedly insisted he only wanted to make sure she would “keep her dignity” before telling her to change while he waited for her in the car.
“I screamed at him to f*** off and get out. He didn’t even apologize! Just kept ranting about how I ignored his feelings towards the dress and disrespected his opinion on it,” the fuming wife added.
“I still feel upset and devasted by the whole thing. We’re not speaking to each other, and he thinks he did me ‘a favor’ and kept my ‘dignity.’ I’m struggling to let this go and I get suffocated whenever I recall the event.”
After asking the internet for advice, plenty of viewers expressed their shock over the man’s actions and wondered if he always behaves like that.
Others also called the incident a “red flag” and told the woman to consider confronting or ditching her husband.
“It’s your body and you’re allowed to wear whatever you want,” someone wrote.
“I would have gone to the wedding soaking wet and when everyone asked what happened, I would have told them the truth, very loudly,” another suggested.
A third said: “He is trampling your boundaries and opinion. Throwing cold water on you is his way of forcing you to go along with his way of thinking.”
