Viewers were left scratching their heads after Austin Butler used his ‘Elvis voice’ when he delivered his speech at the Golden Globe award show.
Many of the biggest stars in the entertainment industry gathered together to celebrate the 80th installment of the Golden Globes.
The show saw celebrities such as Cate Blanchett, Steven Spielberg, and Colin Farrell bag awards for their impressive work while younger stars such as Zendaya and Austin Butler also took home awards.
There are countless moments that became hot topics online but what stood out the most is Austin Butler’s voice.
This has also sparked a lengthy debate ever since the actor revealed that he would take the role of Elvis Presley for the 2022 biopic directed by Baz Luhrmann.
After it was announced that he won the award for best actor in a motion picture, Butler took to the stage and delivered a speech.
Using Elvis Presley’s voice, he said: “Oh man, all my words are leaving me. I just am so grateful right now. I’m in this room full of my heroes. Brad [Pitt], I love you. Quentin (Tarantino), I printed out the Pulp Fiction script when I was 12. I cannot believe I’m here right now.”
He also told Presley’s widow, Priscilla Presley, and daughter, Lisa Marie Presley: “The Presley family, thank you guys for opening your hearts, your memories, your home to me.
“Lisa Marie and Priscilla, I love you forever.”
Butler’s accident seemed to be unnoticed at the Beverly Hilton hotel but it caused an uproar on social media, with one Twitter user writing: “Have never committed to anything the way Austin Butler has committed to the Elvis voice.”
Another wrote: “Austin Butler has one more chance to shut the Elvis voice off I swear to god.”
A third said: “Austin Butler still talking in that god damn Elvis voice…”
