Bali tourists have come under fire after being spotted pretending to be doing hard farm work for pictures.
While photos you see on social media often don’t reflect reality, some influencers are known for going to extreme measures to provide their followers with entertaining content.
A clip showing two such examples has since been making rounds on the internet after the pair was spotted convincing a farmer in Bali, Indonesia, to pose with his plow and make it look as if they’re working.
After their friend was done taking pictures and recording the couple, the trio walked off and the farmer resumed actual work.
The man and the woman, who were wearing nothing but swimming trunks and a bikini, have since been slammed on the internet and branded as instafarmers.
“Pretending to be doing hard work for likes and then leaving the farmer to work alone for the rest of the day,” someone wrote.
“People will do anything for likes these days, sad,” another displeased viewer said.
A third sarcastically commented: “Straight off to the temple afterward for more ‘real’ content.”
Some people, however, ran to the pair’s defense saying they probably compensated the farmer with far more money than he would earn in the time they used his equipment.
“You people do realize that the farmer let them use his stuff right? He probably got enough money to make it worth his while,” one person argued.
“If they paid the man then it’s a win-win situation,” another said.
A third explained: “It’s just for the experience. If I put on a Santa hat and carry gifts in my bag it doesn’t mean I’m faking being Santa. Ppl need to chill.”
