A frustrated mom has revealed how she banned her mother-in-law from babysitting her 17-month-old son after his hair was ‘completely ruined’.
Posting on Reddit, the mom said that she banned her mother-in-law after she cut her son’s hair without their permission.
“She’s cut my 17-month-old’s hair three times,” she wrote. “The first time my husband made it very clear that it was unacceptable and if it happened again he would shave her head.”
But when it happened again, the mom broke down in tears as her son’s hair was ‘so butchered’ and ‘completely ruined.’
“We agreed she wouldn’t be watching him any longer because she can’t respect us as parents,” she continued.
After that incident, the mom has been receiving phone calls from other members of the family, with the mother-in-law claiming that they were ‘overreacting.’
The new mom now wants to know if she has taken things too far and Reddit users were quick to share their thoughts on the matter.
One person commented: “You are not overreacting. She’s done it three times. I’d say you’ve been patient. Maybe in the future, all contact must be supervised. She clearly doesn’t care about your rules. I wonder what other rules she has disregarded. You cannot trust her to do what you ask with your child.”
Another said: “I’d have done it after the first offense. That might be an overreaction but oh well. You definitely aren’t overreacting.”
A third added: “You aren’t going overboard. She has now had warnings and refused to comply with your wishes yet again. It’s not an overreaction. Stick to your guns.”
