A woman has shared how her best friend suddenly fired her from being her bridesmaid because she ‘didn’t look good enough’ to be next to her at the altar.
Taking to Reddit, the woman explained that she was a full-time student and was living off loans and work outside of class.
After being asked to be her best friend’s bridesmaid, she has spent around $1,000 on the wedding – $350 on the bridesmaid’s dress, $350 on flight to attend the big day, and $100 on a gift.
The woman said she was happy and excited to help organize her best friend’s bachelorette party.
“The maid of honor is currently very pregnant and having a rough time. She asked me to plan the bachelorette party. I agreed. I planned it perfectly and had it as a surprise,” she wrote.
“I messaged the other girls the plan. When they all agreed I went ahead and booked my idea. I spent, this is on top of the $1,000) I spent earlier, $400 on a limo to go bar hopping as the bride loves bar hopping and I booked us a $700 AirBnB to crash in afterwards.
“As of right now the other bridesmaids did not chip in, this was out of pocket, but they said they would pay me back later.”
But after organizing the party, she was left shocked when she and two other girls were removed from the bridal party group chat.
She said that the bride accused them of not ‘honoring her wishes’ but later apologized, blaming stress for her rude actions.
“She adds us back to the chat and apologizes saying she’s just stressed,” she continued.
But the bride removed her again from the group chat with a rant saying she regretted inviting her to the wedding.
“She messages me apologizing, saying she’s sorry for lashing out and that she’d like me there but not as a bridesmaid as it would make her ‘uncomfortable’, and that I’m not allowed to wear the dress I had already bought as it’s a bridesmaid’s dress,” the Reddit user went on.
She then told the bride that she could no longer afford another dress as she had already spent too much on the wedding but her best friend lash out and told her to take more money from her student loans.
Feeling upset and furious, the woman then canceled the bachelorette party.
“I told the other bridesmaids what had happened and they agreed it was fair. One of them must have told the bride about the secret bachelorette party as she messaged me telling me I’m an a**hole and I’ve ruined her entire wedding as she now doesn’t have time to book a new bachelorette party in time and she nor any of the other bridesmaids have the money or savings to book anything,” she added.
The woman then found out the reason why the bride didn’t want her to be a bridesmaid.
“The maid of honor said that the bride told her she just didn’t know how she felt about a ‘skinny’ girl next to her at the altar,” she added.
Reddit users were shocked by the bride’s behavior, with one person commenting: “You dodged a bullet. Bride sounds bat s**t crazy.”
