Billy Ray Cyrus, 62, and Firerose, 34, finally tied the knot in a romantic ceremony after they announced their engagement late last year.
In an interview with PEOPLE, Cyrus opened up about how he met the love of his life.
While they first met on the set of Hannah Montana, the iconic country singer detailed how their connection may have started with his dog, Tex.
Cyrus said that he and his German Sheperd were inseparable. His furry companion accompanied him to the set of Hannah Montana, adding that the rustic charm of the pine trees reminded hm of his home in Tennessee.
“Tex and I would go out there in the middle of the day, and he’d take care of his business. On that given day, Firerose came out of the front door. There was almost a moment of, I don’t know, recognition. I was like, ‘This girl’s a star,’” he said.
Firerose was there that day for an audition. Even though she didn’t get the role, she met the man who would later become her husband.
Cyrus then showed Firerose what’s happening behind the scene. “I actually said to her, ‘Don’t ever take a strange man up on this offer, but, in this case, Tex will testify that you will be totally safe.
“I’m going to introduce you to a producer, and you can kind of make yourself at home and watch us rehearse, and you know, maybe it might lead to a role or just another contact at Disney.”
The two kept in touch and their relationship quickly blossomed.
Cyrus and Firerose shared photos of their wedding on Instagram, with the singer describing the day as the ‘most perfect celebration of love.’
He added: “10/10/23 will always be the beautiful, joyous day that our two souls united as one in holy matrimony. It was the most perfect, ethereal celebration of love we could have ever imagined.
“For both of us to hear the preacher say, ‘Billy Ray and Firerose Cyrus … I now pronounce you husband and wife’ that was the sacred moment our new forever began. Long live love.”
