Yusuf Shah, 11, surprised not only himself but also his parents and the rest of the world after getting the results of the Mensa IQ test he took on a whim after everyone in school thought he should get tested because he’s very smart.

As it turned out, however, Yusuf isn’t just smart but is actually a genius whose IQ surpasses that of legendary physicist and cosmologist Stephen Hawking who scored 160 on the test.

Scoring 162, Yusuf is also believed to have a higher IQ than world-renowned physicist Albert Einstein who never officially took the test but is said to have had an IQ of around 160.

“Everyone at school thinks I am very smart, and I have always wanted to know if I was in the top 2% of the people who take the test,” the boy said in an interview with Yorkshire Evening Post. “It feels special to have a certificate for me and about me.”

After the results came back, the boy’s parents also spoke out to share their joy while admitting the whole family felt a bit intimidated preparing for the test.

“I was so proud. He is the first person to take the Mensa test in the family. I was actually a little concerned too – he has always gone into a hall full of kids to take tests,” mother Sana said.

“We thought he might be intimidated by the adults at the center. But he did brilliantly. I still tell him that ‘Your dad is still smarter than you.’ We take it all light-heartedly. Even if you are talented, you have to be the hardest worker.”

Meanwhile, proud dad Irfan said the test is not something one can prepare for.

“We just did what we were already doing – nothing specific for the IQ test,” he said.

Following his brother’s suit, Yusuf’s 8-year-old brother Khalid has since the good news already vowed to attempt the Mensa test as well when he grows older.
