A young bride-to-be left her family and friends speechless after demanding they bring good gifts to her wedding or not bother coming at all.
The bride in question sparked fury among her loved ones and on the internet as she insisted that presents under $50 would not do because they perceive gifts as their love language.
“My fiancé and I have a lot of people in our families that love to show up empty handed to events. This is really distasteful to us,” the bride explained.
“They can all afford to bring something,” she added as she revealed she told her wedding guests not to show up with gifts worth less than $50.
While the bride originally shared her idea in hopes of receiving heaps of support for her unconventional wedding rule, she was quickly slammed by online critics who reshared her post on various platforms and condemned her actions.
“Who says that? My love language is getting stuff.. We all love getting presents but that shouldn’t be what you need to be happy in relationships,” someone wrote.
“The fact like anyone thinks gifts of any price are ‘mandatory’ is insane,” another raged.
A third said: “My love language is physical touch. By OP’s logic, at my wedding, it should be acceptable for me to require everyone to give me a hug on sight. See how ridiculous that logic is? Don’t use love languages to justify sh**ty behavior.”
Some people, however, rushed to the bride’s aid saying it was her right to choose who to have at her wedding on the most important day of her life.
“I understand her point to be honest, too many people attend weddings just to eat and drink for free,” someone wrote.
Another suggested: “Gifts at weddings should be mandatory, but telling people how much to spend on them is a bit tacky imo.”
