The 26-year-old bride and 28-year-old groom got married in an ‘amazing’ ceremony but the reception was ‘ruined’ as the woman couldn’t contain her anger after seeing the child.

Sharing the story on Reddit, the groom said his bride was ‘very strict’ on the dress code. Everything was going well until he found his wife crying in the bathroom.

“The reception was going well, until I noticed my wife walking over to the bathroom with her face held in her hands,” the man wrote.

“Obviously I could tell my wife was upset as we’ve been together for three years now and I can tell when she’s upset.

“Once I got to the bathroom I knocked on the door and informed my wife that it was me at the door. After a few minutes I heard the door unlock and open. When I got in a saw my wife sitting on the floor with mascara running down her cheeks.”

When the groom asked what was wrong, she told him that their 6-year-old nephew was wearing ‘white jeans and a white bow tie.’

“I told her she was overreacting but in a much nicer way and I said that she should go enjoy the reception and forget about the whole thing,” he went on.

“She eventually texted her sister to come to the bathroom and fix her makeup so she could go back out and have a good night.”

The groom then found out that his wife had asked his sister to leave unless she could change the boy’s clothes.

“My wife (felt) she was completely in the right for what she asked, and I told her that if she kicks my family out, then I will happily leave too,” he added.

After the reception, the bride stayed at her parents’ place and they ‘haven’t spoken’ since.

Reddit users were shocked by the woman’s behavior, with one person commenting: “Maybe people would have confused him for the bride, given she’s acting six years old over the situation.”

Another wrote: “It’s a six-year-old in a bow tie. Did she think people would confuse him for the bride?”

A third said: “It’s not just her day, it’s yours too. And there’s no reason she should try and kick out your six-year-old nephew because he had white jeans on.”
