A mother has revealed how she called the police on her own sister after discovering that she had thrown her baby’s expensive formula because she was breastfeeding him.
Taking to Reddit, the 22-year-old mom explained that her sister, 27, had also just given birth. “Her son is breastfed and mine is not.
“I needed to get surgery recently, and because my son’s father isn’t around, my sister and BIL offered to babysit my son while I was in the hospital (3 days total) free of charge.”
When she returned home one day, she was shocked when caught her sister breastfeeding her son.
“It was probably easier to BF him than make bottles but she told me after she had thrown out all of the ‘garbage’ I was feeding him and she was going to pump+donate milk to him,” she went on.
The original poster admitted that she was so shocked she didn’t react right away but after pulling herself together, she called the police on her sister about the formula.
But she was told that what her sister had done was not a crime because the baby was still being fed with breastmilk.
“My sister then blew up at me, saying it was completely wrong of me to call the police on her when she was just trying to help, I told her she dumped 14 cans of formula without even consulting me and currently had nothing to replace it with,” she went on, adding that her sister blocked her on everything.
Her post received a lot of attention on the platform, with one person commenting: “She owes you for the 14 cans of formula that she stole and threw away. She can disagree with you all she wants, but theft is theft – and now that she’s blocked you everywhere, she’s leaving your child to go hungry. Small claims court?”
Another wrote: “She just literally dumped hundreds of dollars of formula that you bought because of her own personal opinions on formula. I would have done the same thing, in your situation.”
