Cillian Murphy won the Best Actor Academy Award for his lead role in Oppenheimer.
He was joined by his wife Yvonne and his lookalike sons Malachy, 17, and Aran, 16, on the red carpet. The actor then took his seat next to his partner while their children were seated in the upper circle.
During his acceptance speech, the Irish actor paid a heartwarming tribute to his family and expressed how much he loved them.
Cillian couldn’t contain his emotions as he told his wife: “Yvonne McGuiness, my partner in life and art,” before he added: “My two boys, Malachy and Aran who are sitting up there. I love you so much.”
Yvonne wore an inky black shoulderless gown and accessorized with a choker necklace. She kept her chestnut hair back and accessorized with simple jewelry and a clutch.
The star revealed that he was ‘overwhelmed’ as he lifted his Oscar, saying: “I’m a very proud Irishman standing here tonight.”
The moment was a rare public family outing for Cillian as he is keen on protecting his family’s privacy.
Cillian and Yvonne tied the knot 20 years ago after they first met at one of his rock band shows.
In an interview with GQ, he shared that his wife is instrumental to his career. “I couldn’t do this without (my wife) and her understanding.”
