A comedian has left people divided after he delivered numerous jokes about the sudden death of Friends star Matthew Perry.
The entertainment industry was rocked last month by the heartbreaking news of the actor’s death. He was reportedly found in his hot tub and paramedics were called for a ‘water emergency,’
Police told TMZ that there were no signs of foul play or drugs at the scene.
While heartbroken co-stars and fans paid heartfelt tribute to the actor, others’ reaction left people baffled.
Comedian Hans Kim has sparked a debate on social media after he shared a video of himself delivering jokes about Perry’s death during a stand-up routine.
In the video, he can be heard saying: “Sad to hear that the great Matthew Perry died alone in a hot tub. For a guy on a show called Friends, he could have used a couple.”
Referencing the opening credits of the hit sitcom that shows the cast playing around in a water fountain, Kim said: “Who knew the opening credits were his cry for help?”
He bravely posted the video on TikTok and captioned his post: “Rip matthew perry.”
But viewers’ reaction was split, with many saying it was ‘too soon’ after the actor’s passing.
One person commented: “Besides being totally uncalled for this just isn’t even funny. Humor is so dry and tacky these days.”
Others saw the funny side and noted that Kim was exploring dark humor, with one person commenting: “No such thing as too soon. This is the point of comedy, to cope with bad times.”
Another said: “For what it’s worth, I think Matthew Perry would’ve laughed at this joke.”
