A couple who co-sleep with their children have defended their arrangement after their unusual parenting choices sparked backlash online.
Brandon Deal and his wife Meagan from Alabama revealed that they still sleep with their children Sarah Grace, 6, and McKenzi, 12.
Sharing a video on TikTok, Brandon said: “Let me show you how it goes.”
The couple then showed their sleeping arrangement to the viewers, who where shocked and baffled by the setup.
Brandon showed viewers a king-sized bed, saying his wife sleeps in the middle while he sleeps on the left and 6-year-old daughter sleep on the right.
They also have a twin sized bed for their daughter McKenzi, who went deaf at the age of 3. Brandon said that she likes to sleep in the same room as them as she feels ‘safer.’
Speaking about where their youngest daughter will sleep when she’s older, he said: “We’ll figure it out when we get there.”
Brandon further explained that McKenzi, who uses a hearing aid, doesn’t feel 100 percent comfortable sleeping in her own room.
Their daughters have their own rooms but the couple insisted that they prefer to share a room with them.
But many were confused by their sleeping arrangement, with one person commenting: “When you said co-sleeping I thought it was with little ones, but that is a full teenager.”
Another joked: “I can barely handle co sleeping with my husband.”
But others didn’t see any problem with the setup, with one saying: “We co slept until my kids decided they wanted their own bed. They are healthy full grown adults now with no co dependency issues.”
Another wrote: “Yep we co-sleep too. I Just don’t like the idea of my children being in a different room all night long because what if something happens.”
