A lucky couple who won a home that was featured in The Block claimed that their lottery win turned into a nightmare.
After winning a $4.2 million home, the Griffin family have accused Adrian ‘Lambo Guy’ Portelli of removing over $100,000 worth of items from the property before it was handed over to them.
Mr. Portelli, a property investor, said he bought the home in November after it passed at auction. He then put it up as the star prize through his lottery company LMCT+.
The Griffin family won the property but were left furious after watching CCTV footage of Mr. Portelli taking out some items from the house, including a treadmill, robot-mower, Smeg appliance, a BBQ smoker, and wine.
Mr. Portelli has been hit by a $102,000 bill for a long list of priced items that were missing from the ‘fully-furnished home.’
The couple also said that they have a website entitled ‘Our LMCT nightmare’ that would go live if Mr. Portelli refused to pay them.
While the Griffins believed they were entitled to everything showed in the promotional videos of the lottery, Mr. Portelli insisted that the luxury extras were only used for staging and not part of the giveaway under the terms and conditions.
In a TikTok video, he accused Kevin and Andrea Griffin of being ungrateful, adding that the couple just found CCTV cameras left behind by Channel 9’s production team and claims they ‘hacked into them.’
One person commented: “You could have given me that home stripped of all the furniture and I would have been over the moon.”
Another wrote: “Shame on them. Some people can’t even put food on the table. They need humbling massively.”
A third said: “Australia’s biggest rental crisis and we have people out here that win a house more than some people would ever earn in their life and they complain.”
