A mother was left fuming after her young daughter’s daycare supervisor cut the child’s long hair without permission simply because she didn’t like it.
In a candid post that quickly took over the internet, an anonymous mom revealed that her five-year-old daughter had her hair cut at her daycare without her knowledge or approval.
“My five year old daughter came home from daycare with trimmed hair – looks like someone (an adult) trimmed her hair,” the mother wrote.
“We haven’t cut her hair yet (since birth) and it’s very disturbing for us to see that someone has done this to her.”
The woman went on to reveal that she questioned her daughter about what had happened and that the child told her that another student snipped her hair while she wasn’t paying attention. She also claimed that the daycare worker then told her that her hair wouldn’t cause problems if it were shorter.
As the mother added, she thinks she knows which teacher cut her daughter’s hair after it was snipped by another student. Despite being “livid” about it, however, she decided not to raise an issue with the staffer’s superiors because she doesn’t want her to lose her job.
“I would be livid if this happened to my child. I’m sure there would be cameras and I’d be asking for the footage to be viewed,” one user wrote after seeing the mom’s story.
“Where others are saying it was done by another child then this in itself is a big issue, as where did the child get access to scissors sharp enough to cut hair and left unsupervised long enough to cut another child’s hair?” another said.
A third argued: “If an educator did this then they deserve to lose their job, if they feel in any way, shape or form that is ok, they need retraining!”
One mom suggested: “Screw their feelings, that’s your child, they have no right to take it upon themselves to cut your daughter’s hair. I would be polite but very firm about how unacceptable this is.”
