Johnny Depp couldn’t hide his amusement when the doorman of their building described how his ex-wife Amber Heard asked him to investigate an intruder because of scratches on the front door, which were caused by a dog.
Alejandro Romero testified and said that the actress and her friend Rocky Pennington told him that “somebody tried to get into my unit.”
In a pre-taped video deposition, the doorman said he thought to himself: “What? Four inches above the (floor)? The dog was scratching.”
“’In my head (I’m thinking) you think someone is trying to get into your unit with scratches four inches above the floor?” he said.
That’s when Depp started laughing and others laughed at well.
“They were so scared. They asked me to go inside the unit to check room by room. I did it, it’s part of my job,” Romero continued.
Romero was giving the deposition in his vehicle on his phone. He could be seen blowing smoke out of his nose after taking a hit from his vape.
He then started to drive around while still being asked by one of Heard’s lawyers.
After the conversation, Heard’s lawyer Bredehoft said it was “the most bizarre deposition” she had ever done.
Romero met the actress on May 25, 2016, four days after the final argument between Depp and Heard before their divorce.
Heard claims Depp hit her with a mobile phone, and the Pirates of the Caribbean star denies it.
Romero said he did not see any cuts and bruises on Heard’s face at that time and he was only 3ft away from her.
Depp laughed again when Romero said he was not checking if Heard’s “eyelashes are not even.”
People in court laughed when Romero replied to another question: “I don’t remember what I got for breakfast.”
