Dick Van Dyke has shared a heartwarming video of himself playing a ukulele and people were quick to praise the Mary Poppins star.
The 97-year-old took to Instagram and posted the clip alongside a caption: “My first ukulele lesson.”
He also wrote: “It’s never too late to start something new.”
In the video, he can be seen trying to find the right key while playing ukulele. “Where’s the F?” he asked.
Fans were quick to support the actor, with one person commenting: “Amen! I started tap dancing at age 60. I’ll never win any awards for it, but I’m having fun.”
Another wrote: “Love that you’re still trying new things! A lesson in how to stay young.”
A third joked: “As long as you don’t break it over your head and get amnesia… Antonio Stradivarius. We adore you!”
Someone else added: “There is a special place for this amazing soul, incomparable grace, kindness and talent.”
In addition to learning new things to make him feel young, the actor also credited his loving wife, Arlene Silver, for her great impact on his outlook in life.
Speaking to Yahoo, the 97-year-old shared how his wife keeps him young.
When asked about his ‘secret for staying so youthful,’ the actor said: “Having a beautiful young wife half my age to take care of me – that works!”
Van Dyke also said during the interview that his wife helps him keep a ‘positive attitude’ and encourages him to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
“I advise everybody to do that, because that’s what ages people,” he expressed. “”It’s just a stiffening up and not exercising their muscles and their lungs. Exercise is the answer.”
The couple, who initially met at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in 2006, have been married for 11 years.
