Dolly Parton has left her fans in stitches after she opened up about retiring and said that she would only stop when she ‘drops dead’.
In an interview with Ken Bruce on Greatest Hits Radio, the country singer said that she has no plans on hanging her sparkling cowboy boots up.
“I would never retire,” she firmly said.
“I’ll just hopefully drop dead in the middle of a song onstage someday, hopefully, one I’ve written,” the 77-year-old continued.
“But anyway, that’s how I hope to go because we don’t have much of a choice in that.
“As long as I’m able to work, as long as my health is good and my husband is good, the only way that I would ever slow down would be for that reason.
“In the meantime, I’m going to make hay while the sun shines.”
This comes after the singer announced that her first rock album titled ‘Rockstar’ would be released later this year.
“I’m so excited to finally present my first Rock and Roll album Rockstar!” she said on her official website.
“I am very honored and privileged to have worked with some of the greatest iconic singers and musicians of all time and to be able to sing all the iconic songs throughout the album was a joy beyond measure.
“I hope everybody enjoys the album as much as I’ve enjoyed putting it together!”
Her album features 9 original songs and 21 iconic rock covers.
The lead song ‘World On Fire’ was previously released to give fans a taste of what the 30-song album is all about.
“This is a song I felt very inspired to write,” she said. “I think it speaks about everything and to
everyone this day and time. I hope it is something that will touch you and maybe touch enough people to want to make a change for the better.”
