Doritos has fired transgender activist Samantha Hudson after hiring her as a brand ambassador due to her previous posts on social media.
On Tuesday, Doritos Spain confirmed to Rolling Stone that it would no longer work with Hudson, explaining that the company had not been aware of her old tweets.
Born Ivan Gonzles Ranedo, the 24-year-old appeared in a 50-second video called ‘Crunch Talks,’ which has already been deleted.
“We have ended the relationship and stopped all related campaign activity due to the comments,” a spokesperson for Doritos Spain said. “We strongly condemn words or actions that promote violence or sexism of any kind.”
This comes after the brand faced massive backlash online as people started sharing screenshots of Hudson’s past posts.
Hudson has made controversial remarks on capitalism, traditional families and more.
In one of her alleged posts, Hudson endorsed ‘the abolition of … the traditional monogamous nuclear family.’
The Daily Mail also reported that she posted tweets about ‘wanting to do thuggish things to a minor.’
According to the Rolling Stone, Hudson apologized for the tweets after she gained popularity.
“Some tweets that I posted in 2015 are resurfacing and honestly I don’t know what to say, I don’t remember having written such barbarities,” she reportedly said.
“At that time I dedicated myself to saying nonsense, the heavier the better, because I thought that ‘dark humor’ was funny.”
Many users made reference to Bud Light’s partnership with trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney, which saw Budweiser drop $1.4 billion in sales.
Former Trump campaign member Jenna Ellis took to X and wrote: “This is disgusting. Give Doritos the Bud Light treatment.”
Journalist Matt Agorist said: “I didn’t give a sh** about Bud Light. I thought it was a bad marketing decision given the current environment, but what Doritos just did is next level!”
