A protective mother has sparked a debate after revealing she banned her daughter’s bully from the child’s birthday party.
The 28-year-old mamma bear in question took to Reddit to explain that her daughter, Payton, just turned seven and decided to throw a big birthday party for her classmates.
For the occasion, every child from the girl’s class was invited except for a student who had allegedly been bullying Payton since the start of school.
After the news had spread, the bully’s mother reached out to Payton’s mom and asked her to reconsider her decision.
“The other girl’s mother called me to talk about it saying how now her daughter is crying she was the only kid not invited and everyone at school is talking about the party. (Payton’s parties are known by her classmates to be very over the top),” the mom explained.
“I explained her daughter isn’t nice to my daughter and that’s the reason she wasn’t invited (the mother knows this). The mother said I’m teaching my child to be a ‘bully’ and use her wealth to make friends. I disagreed.”
Payton’s mom went on to say that the other girl’s parents offered to make their daughter write an apology letter to Payton. The 28-year-old, however, said she would not be reconsidering the ban because she wanted her daughter to feel safe at her party.
After asking Reddit for support, the mother received plenty of support from fellow parents and other like-minded people.
“Her kid has bullied yours so of course Payton doesn’t want her there. This is a great time for the bully’s mom to teach them that actions have consequences,” someone said.
“You’re teaching your daughter to draw boundaries when someone is mean, and you’re teaching her daughter that actions have consequences,” another wrote.
