Fans of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were left heartbroken after the couple were ‘downgraded’ on the official website of Buckingham Palace.
When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down from their royal duties in January 2020, their full profiles had remained on the website alongside of the members of the Royal Family.
But they were now replaced with a smaller, joint biography at the bottom of the page, even below Prince Andrew – the Duke of York.
The couple’s profile now shows that they have stepped down from their royal duties and there were only a few short paragraphs about them.
The Duke of York’s entry was also updated and now shows a shortened biography that begins with the news of his withdrawal from public life as well as the late Queen Elizabeth’s decision to strip him of his royal patronages and military affiliations.
Harry’s previous entry described him as fifth in line to the throne. His 2,700 word biography details of his education, army career, his work setting up the Invictus Games, as well as his joint work on the mental health Heads Together initiative with Prince William and Kate.
Meghan’s original profile included details of her education, acting career, and charitable engagements.
But now, the couple share a joint biography with a combined word count of only 577 words but it also included a link to Harry and Meghan’s website Sussex.com.
