The Duke and Duchess of Sussex did not publicly greet King Charles a happy birthday as he celebrated his first birthday as the monarch.
The King released a new photo as he celebrated his first birthday as King after his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth, passed away in September.
The new Prince and Princess of Wales were the only senior royals to publicly wished the King a happy birthday.
Prince William and Princess Kate took to Twitter and wrote: “Wishing a very happy birthday to His Majesty The King!”
The Royal Collection Trust also shared a photo of a young Charles with Princess Anne, writing: “Happy birthday to King Charles III! This photograph from 1951 shows the then Prince Charles kissing the hand of his sister, Princess Anne.”
The official Twitter account of the Royal Family, which shares updates on the senior royals, also shared a video of the Band of the Household Cavalry performing a Happy Birthday during the Guard Ceremony.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decided not to share a public greeting on their Archewell website; it is not known whether they spoke to the King in private.
The Sussexes quit Twitter and Facebook in January last year, explaining they became alienated by the ‘hate’ they experienced on the social media platforms.
Their Sussex Royal Instagram also doesn’t have any posts since January 2020.
To mark the special occasion, His Majesty officially became Ranger of Windsor Great Park, 70 years after the Duke of Edinburgh was appointed to the post.
The role offers oversight and guidance to the deputy ranger as well as his team in the daily stewardship of one of the oldest landed estates in the country.
