Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were set to attend the awards ceremony in London during their trip to the UK in September.

But the couple had to change their plans following the death of the beloved queen.

The Duke fulfilled his promise to meet the winners by holding a video call with them to congratulate them on their awards.

A four-year-old boy that Harry spoke to during the call was Henry Waines, 4, who suffers from serious health problems.

Harry apologized to Henry for not being able to present his award and the youngster replied: “That’s alright.”

The father-of-two said: “You sound just like my son Archie really. The same little squeaky voice. I love it.”

Henry then asked the Duke of Sussex about his two children, and Harry smiled as he replied: “They are doing great.

“Archie is very very busy and Lili is learning to use her voice, which is great!”

During the call, Harry also talked to Shakeerah Crowther, 10, a survivor of a rare brain infection.

The young girl signed: “I’m sorry about your grandmother, the Queen.”

Harry, who was visibly moved, asked her about the giraffe behind their sofa and revealed: “How long have you had that giraffe for? Because Archie’s got a giraffe as well and it’s lasted a very long time. And we call him Gerald.”

Harry also chatted with Evelyn Rodger, a children’s hospice nurse whose role was funded by the Princess Diana memorial fund.

“I think your mum would be very proud of what that money has achieved. And I also think as a mum she’d be very proud of you, Harry,” she said.

The emotional Duke of Sussex replied: “That’s very sweet, thank you.”
