Actress Jamie Lee Curtis has spoken out against plastic surgery and Botox as she urges people not to mess with their faces and embrace the inevitability of aging instead.
The star told TODAY that it was the advice she has given her daughters Ruby and Annie.
During the interview, the Halloween star proudly declared herself ‘pro-aging’ and said: “Don’t mess with your face.”
Curtis undergone procedures in the past but admitted that she regretted it.
“I did plastic surgery. I put Botox in my head. Does Botox make the big wrinkle go away? Yes. But then you look like a plastic figurine,” she expressed.
She also called out those who have made anti-aging a vital part of their daily lives.
“Walk a mile in my shoes. I have done it. It did not work. And all I see is people now focusing their life on that,” she said.
In 1989, Curtis had fat removed from under her eyes after a cameraman made some remarks about her ‘puffy eyes’ during the set of Perfect.
She didn’t like the results and it triggered her addiction to Vicodin, a prescription opioid for relieving severe pain.
“I tried plastic surgery and it didn’t work. It got me addicted to Vicodin. I’m 22 years sober now.”
She also previously admitted to getting Botox and liposuction.
“I’ve had a little lipo. I’ve had a little Botox. And you know what? None of it works. None of it. It’s such a fraud. And I’m the one perpetuating it,” she told More magazine.
In a previous interview with Fast Company, Curtis talked about how the ‘obsession’ around anti-aging has warped beauty standards today.
“The current trend of fillers and procedures, and this obsession with filtering, and the things that we do to adjust our appearance on Zoom are wiping out generations of beauty,” she said.
“Once you mess with your face, you can’t get it back.”
