A man sparked a heated debate after claiming that his jealous wife screamed at a waitress because he overtipped her.
The man in question said his wife always gets jealous when he chooses to tip over $10 to waitresses when they dine out.
Recently, however, things got out of hand when the man chose to tip double the amount on their bill after he and his wife were done eating at Hooters – a restaurant of the man’s choice.
“I was a server when I was a teenager and I never got any tips more than a few dollars. I understand how exhausting and draining being a server can so I try my best to tip out more especially when there’s excellent service,” the man wrote in his Reddit post.
“A few times when I tipped an extraordinary amount, my wife gets jealous. One time I tipped $70 on a $120 bill and my wife got really jealous because the waitress was pretty and she wrote ‘thank you so much’ with a heart on it and after we left she was calling her a ‘hoe’ and calling out her looks and she’s not worth that amount of tip and that I should have tipped her a dollar because that’s what she looks like.”
Recalling his most recent quarrel with his wife, he added: “Another time I tipped double the meal so $40 on a $20 bill and my wife got mad she confronted the waitress.point 246 |

The man went on to say that these instances involving his wife’s “passive aggressive” behavior and outbursts of jealousy have made him not want to go out with her anymore.
After his complaints went viral on Reddit, the man was quickly inundated with comments, whereas the majority of people suggested he was in the wrong taking his wife to Hooters and overtipping “pretty” waitresses.
“You know what she’s like better than any of us & I can already guarantee you that Hooters isn’t actually the best spot to take wifey (for any relationship, but especially yours) to dinner & tip 200%. If you give her a lil bit of understanding, maybe she’ll be inclined to give you a lil bit of understanding back,” someone advised.
“I’m kinda astonished how you could have possibly thought taking your wife to Hooters was a good idea. Even if she didn’t have jealousy issues that just seems like a mind bogglingly bad idea,” another said.
A third wrote: “She sounds like a lovely lady. Also, I’m curious to know what signals you are giving out to other people that she’s picking up on. Do you only tip like this to women who serve you or men as well?”
