Jennifer Coolidge made a hilarious mistake while hosting the 2023 Golden Globe Awards but was quick to correct her mistake.
The 61-year-old actress was preparing to present the award in the best supporting actor in a drama or V musical/comedy category when she accidentally said: “So the Oscar goes to…”
The Legally Blonde star immediately realized her mistake and corrected herself before she presented the award to Tyler James Williams.
The audience burst into laughter after the mishap.
Before the mistake, the White Lotus actress explained that she was nervous to accept the role of a presenter at the Golden Globe Awards.
Speaking about the moment she got a call from someone affiliated with the show, Coolidge said: “I said, oh, my god, that is such an honor, thank you, thank you so much. Yes, I would love to, and I hung up on her.”
The 61-year-old also explained that she got an anxiety attack just thinking about presenting.
“And then I thought about it for a little bit, and I just had a complete anxiety attack. And I got very, very nervous and I said “oh, my god, I’m not doing this so I called Cara right back,’” she went on.
“And I said, Cara, I’m so touched that you would want me to do something, but, listen, I’m going to tell you something, there is no way that I’m going to make it from behind the curtain all the way to the podium without breaking my skull, you know, because of all these overwaxed floors and stuff.”
Cara reportedly told her: “Jennifer, then why don’t you just wear a pair of crocs.”
To which the actress replied: “Well, are you kidding me with my Dolce & Gabbana dress, all those crazy Italians would lose their minds.”
She also said that her ‘biggest nightmare’ is mispronouncing people’s names.
But on Tuesday, she wowed audience and fans with her black sequin Dolce & Gabbana dress.
