Johnny Depp’s fans are wishing him well as he celebrates his 60th birthday.
The Hollywood legend and his band and Hollywood Vampires started their European tour at Bucharest’s Romexpo area in Romania, with bandmate Alice Cooper telling 40,000 fans to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to the Pirates of the Caribbean star.
In a heartwarming video of the moment posted on Instagram, Depp can be heard saying: “Wow. That’s the largest happy birthday song I’ve ever heard.”
“Beautiful. Thank you,” Depp added as he placed one hand on his heart before blowing a kiss to the crowd.
The actor can be seen wearing a cast on his left leg during their performance after he fractured his ankle on May 29.
The band had to reschedule three of its shows in New York, Boston and New Hampshire before going overseas.
Their income from their tour in Istanbul “will be donated to the DEC (Disasters Emergency Committee) months after strong earthquakes hit Syria and Turkey, taking the lives of thousands.
Depp dedicated his David Bowie performance, Heroes, to his late friend Jeff Beck, who passed away after contracting bacterial meningitis.
He told the crowd: “I should dedicate this song to one of all of our heroes, Mr. Jeff Beck.”
Fans were quick to praise his emotional tribute, which left everyone in awe. One fan commented: “My eyes filled with tears listening to his voice singing such beautiful words.”
Another wrote: “I know Jeff is with you!! He will always be in your heart.”
A third added: “I could feel the sorrow, the honor and the true emptiness Johnny’s feeling with his dear, dear friend not on stage with him.”
