Johnny Depp sold his debut artwork collection through Castle Fine Art only hours after announcing the sale.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star just released a limited-edition collection of 780 pieces as his ex-wife Amber Heard fights to overturn a court’s settlement against her.
Individual pieces went for $4,800 and a complete portfolio of four pieces sold for $18,000!
The 59-year-old actor’s collection focused on ‘Friends & Heroes.’ It featured pop-art style pieces of Elizabeth Taylor, Keith Richards, Al Pacino, and Bob Dylan.
Seller Castle Fine Art describes the images as each piece being an intimate reflection of character in the actor’s eyes.
The collection is also called ‘pop art with a feeling,’ explaining that it is the intersection of ‘Street Art’ and ‘Pop Art.’
Depp said via the Castle Fine Art: “I’ve always used art to express my feelings and to reflect on those who matter most to me, like my family, friends and people I admire.
“My paintings surround my life, but I kept them to myself and limited myself. No one should ever limit themselves.”
The Edward Scissorhands star announced the sale on social media, and the collection sold out within hours.
This comes after Depp was awarded $10.35 million for damages after winning a defamation suit against Heard.
The Aquaman actress then appealed for the award to be overturned. Depp also made an appeal against the $2 million in compensatory damages that he was ordered to pay to his ex-wife.
One fan commented: “Johnny is gifted and blessed in every way!!”
