Kate McCann, the mother of missing Madeleine McCann, has revealed the note she saw in the reservation book at the restaurant she was dining with her husband when Maddie vanished.

In 2007, 3-year-old Madeleine was on a vacation with her family in Praia da Luz, Portugal when she disappeared from their apartment while her parents were eating at a nearby restaurant.

The story has made headlines once again after a 21-year-old woman named Julia Wendell claimed that she could be the missing girl but DNA test results have since concluded that Julia has no British roots.

Kate McCann has previously mentioned that a note she saw in the reservation book may have led to Maddie’s disappearance.

In her book ‘Madeleine: Our Daughter’s Disappearance and the Continuing Search For Her,’ she detailed what happened in the restaurant where she had been dining with her husband and some friends.

She wrote in her book that she and her group had booked the same table in the restaurant each night, telling the restaurant that they wanted a table with the best view of the apartments as their children were sleeping in the hotel apartments.

Kate wrote that ‘to her horror,’ that information was written in the restaurant’s reservation book. This meant that anybody who read the note would have known that the kids were unsupervised.

“To my horror, I saw that, no doubt in all innocence and simply to explain why she was bending the rules a bit, the receptionist had added the reason for our request: we wanted to eat close to our apartments as we were leaving our young children alone there and checking on them intermittently,” she wrote.

Author Robbyn Swan, who co-wrote the ‘Looking for Madeleine’ book, said that the information was ‘the stuff of nightmares’ for the McCanns.

The current prime suspect in Madeleine’s case is still Christian Brueckner, 45. But he has denied any participation to the girl’s disappearance and has not been charged with any crimes related to the family.
