Kate Middleton was left ‘in tears’ after Prince William decided to cancel their plans for the New Year, a royal author claims in her ‘The Making of a Royal Romance’ book.
In 2006, before the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge tied the knot, they had plans to spend the new year together.
William spent Christmas with his family at Sandringham and planned to see Kate and spend the New Year with her and her family.
However, the book published in 2011 claims that Kate was left ‘in tears’ when William decided to cancel their plans and stayed with the royals instead.
“William had been having second thoughts and sat down with his father and his grandmother to have a frank discussion about his future with Kate,” royal author Katie Nicholl claims.
“Both advised him not to hurry into anything.”
Only weeks later, the couple briefly broke up and sources said that the Queen was left disappointed by their split.
But only weeks after they broke up, Kate and William were seen kissing at an army party in Bovington, Dorset.
In July 2007, Kate and her brother James attended the Concert for Diana to mark William’s late mother’s 10th year death anniversary.
This year, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge spent Christmas at their county retreat Anmer Hall with their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. They were joined by some members of Kate’s family.
It is not known what the children have received for Christmas but Nicholl said that Kate doesn’t want to ‘lavish extravagant tech gifts on her three children.’
The Duchess of Cambridge prefers to give them practical gifts so they don’t have too much screen time.
