King Charles would be ‘triggered’ to remove the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s royal titles if they ‘directly attack’ Kate, the Princess of Wales, in their bombshell Netflix documentary, a royal expert has claimed.
Royal commentator Michael Cole said on GB News that removing Prince Harry and Meghan’s titles was an ‘option’ for the monarch after the release of the duke’s upcoming memoir Spare and their new docu-series.
In the teaser for the show, Harry slammed the ‘pain and suffering of women marrying into this institution’ as video of Kate being hounded by paparazzi was shown.
Royal experts speculated the ‘uncomfortable’ series will also show Kate’s life before she tied the knot with Prince William.
Mr. Cole said the Royals’ reaction to the Lady Susan Hussey scandal just shows how quickly they act in the face of crisis and they would also do the same to protect the Princess of Wales.
“We saw how swiftly Buckingham Palace moved to cut loose Lady Susan Hussey after only 60 years of service to the crown at the weekend,” he said.
“We’ll have to see what’s in there, but it looks as if it’s bare-knuckle fighting, and the gloves are off.”
While the royals may try the ‘never complain, never explain’ mentality after Harry and Meghan’s bombshell documentary, Mr. Cole said the palace won’t stay quiet if the show attacks Kate.
He also said the King may be triggered to strip the couple’s titles after the publication of Harry’s memoir Spare and the show’s release.
“He can remove the title HRH, Her Royal Highness, His Royal Highness. It was done when Diana divorced immediately… that’s big medicine, that means something a great deal,” he continued.
“The King does have that sanction, or maybe they will try to never explain, never respond to it. I think it would be hard for them to do that.”
“What will trigger that is if there are direct attacks on his (Prince William’s) wife Catherine, the Princess of Wales, I think that might trigger it,” he added.
