A woman has shared how her brother got mad at her because she couldn’t stop laughing at his daughter’s name.
Writing on Reddit, the woman explained that her brother named her daughter after an antidepressant.
“My brother and his girlfriend had a baby girl two months ago,” she wrote. “I didn’t visit her in the hospital due to the restrictions but I quickly found out that they named her Celexa.”
The aunt also said that her brother and his girlfriend could use Google to see that Celexa is a name of an antidepressant medication.
“I don’t understand the thought process behind choosing that name but I really cannot stand it and I laugh whenever someone in my family refers to her,” she continued.
She explained that every time she hears her niece’s name, she couldn’t contain her laughter. Her brother’s girlfriend then asked her why she refuses to call the baby Celexa and that’s when she told her that it is the name of an antidepressant medication.
“I’ve got her upset because she’s worried that people are gonna bully their daughter,” she wrote.
The woman is now wondering if she was in the wrong for telling the couple about the name.
Reddit users were quick to share their thoughts, with one person saying: “”I have a friend named Keppra, which is also an anti-seizure medication. My entire family is made up of physicians and nurses so it always gets a chuckle out of them when I bring her up.”
Another said: “Basically you’re the first bully in this kid’s life so congrats on that. People sometimes have unusual names, being so immature and petty that you refuse to refer to a human being by their name is stupid and mean. Grow up.”
