A relative told Daily Mail that the family had spent ‘traumatic days unsure if she was going to pull through.’
The unnamed family member also said that the incident served as a ‘wake-up’ call for the singer who believed herself to be ‘invincible.’
“For the past couple of days, no one really knew which direction this was going to turn, and her family was preparing for the worst. That is why it was kept a secret since Saturday,” the relative said.
“Everyone believed that we may lose her and that has been the reality of the situation.”
The family also banned any talks about the tour around the singer, who her family says puts her career before her health.
Madonna’s manager, Guy Oseary, took to Instagram and revealed that the singer ‘developed a serious bacterial infection which led to a several-day stay in the ICU.’
