A 47-year-old man has been receiving praise after he decided to board the plane without his wife and left her stranded at the airport.
Taking to Reddit, the man explained that he was an organized person and traveling with her significant other is ‘not a great experience’.
“I like to have everything organized and make sure that we get where we need to be early, especially when traveling. My wife is the opposite, very ‘go with the flow’ and ‘we will get there when we get there’. I do my best to meet in the middle, but not when traveling by plane,” he wrote.
The husband went on and said that they had to go to the airport for their 10 am flight. “I told my wife that we needed to be at the airport 90 minutes early, and we live about 30 minutes away.
“This being said, I wanted to leave at the very latest by 8, since we would also need to park and walk a little bit. I, of course, got up at 6, to make sure everything was ready and accounted for.”
But his wife refused to wake up early and she eventually got up at 7:40 am. She then proceeded to take a shower, eat a bowl of cereal, and drink coffee.
“We didn’t leave the house until 9. It ended up being busier at the airport than normal (likely due to many colleges having parents weekend) and it took so long to get through security that we missed our flight.”
The man then shared their most recent trip when they were coming back to help their daughter move.
After landing at a connecting city, they had only 25 minutes to start boarding their next plane.
“We had to take multiple rails to get from where we landed to our terminal. We got to our terminal and had about 15 minutes until our plane was set to board. My wife tells me that she wants to get coffee,” he wrote.
He explained that there was a small market next to their terminal that sold coffee and food but his wife wanted Starbucks, which was a rail ride away. He warned her that they did not have enough time but she still went for it after assuring him that she would be back in time.
The boarding groups were then called but his wife was still not back. He was then told by a flight attendant that it was the last call so he boarded the plane without his other half.
When they met at their daughter’s school, his furious wife kept on giving him the cold shoulder.
Reddit users were quick to share their thoughts on the matter, with one commenting: “You did the right thing. Does she not care about how it would’ve impacted your daughter? At least she had one parent with her. Your wife needs to grow up and learn how to be a responsible adult.”
Another said: “Your wife is so selfish only cares about herself and what she wants and not about seeing your daughter. You warned her. I would have just left her the day before. So not only is she selfish she is acting like a child now as well. Honestly she needs to grow up.”
