A man has left people divided after he revealed how he told his wife to pack her bags because she became menopausal.
Posting on Reddit, the 57-year-old man explained that his wife just turned 55 and that they had been together for 25 years.
“When my ex and I got together she was a self-described open-minded person who, unlike other women I dated, did not start pulling my arm on the marriage issue after we passed the one-year mark,” he wrote.
The man explained that he and his wife often argued about having kids as he wanted to start a business first.
“I’d resent my kids for getting in the way of that,” he expressed, adding that they went to counseling over the years and had decided just to enjoy the money from their business.
They traveled the world together and she gave up her job to focus on charity work. But when he reached his late fifties and his wife became menopausal at 53, he realized that the door to having biological children was ‘closed forever.’
“Since then I’ve been in an internal crisis because everything about my life has gotten old. My life felt empty. I had worked through the emotional issues that prevented me from wanting kids and now I desperately wanted a family,” he expressed.
The man went on and said that he became depressed as he wanted to have biological children but his wife dismissed his feelings as a ‘midlife crisis.’
He then told her to move out of the house and find her own place to live.
“Am I at fault for changing my mind when she is acting like I don’t get to change my mind?” he asked.
Reddit users were quick to share their thoughts on the situation, with one person saying: “He is so going to love having teenage kids at age 70: ‘Shut up, old man!’”
Another said: “Good luck finding a 30s-something woman who would want to have kids with a man nearly 60 years old.”
