According to a new survey, more than two-thirds of Americans thought more favorably of the former actress despite her controversial remarks.

Meghan sparked a backlash after she compared her marriage to Prince Harry with the release of former South African president Nelson Mandela.

The 41-year-old claimed that she was told by a Lion King cast member that South Africans ‘danced in the streets’ when she tied the knot with Prince Harry, just like they celebrated when Mandela was finally freed from prison.

The Duchess also claimed that she was forced to keep going to engagements despite a fire in her son Archie’s nursery room.

British commentators slammed her comments and one even described her interview as ‘threatening to the Royal Family.’

Around 20 percent said they felt no different while 10 percent said they thought less favorably of the duchess.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliam said: “I think that is an extraordinary result because the interview in The Cut was threatening, or I thought it was to the Royal Family.”

He also described the result as ‘staggering.’

“But I certainly would very strongly condemn her mentioning of Nelson Mandela and his release from prison, and that it is linked to her in any connection or context,” Richard said.

“I’m not surprised that her admirers and fans would support her, because she has some very piteous followers on Twitter. She is American and is unique in the way that she is a biracial former actress and divorcee, and when she married into the royal family, I thought it was fantastic.

“Now I’m just very surprised by this result, but I think she has admirers and fans because she is American.”

The poll also revealed that 16 percent of people described Meghan as strong while 14 percent thought she is charming compared to only 4 percent who thought she is a bully.
