Rolling Stones’ singer Mick Jagger is reportedly engaged to a woman more than 43 years younger than him.
The 79-year-old and Melanie Hamrick, 36, first triggered engagement rumors when the former ballet dancer was seen wearing a ring on her finger.
She previously joked that it was a simply promise ring but rumors were reignited after a trip to New York.
A source told Mirror: “Melanie was at the American Ballet Theater and she was telling her friends she was engaged to Mick.
“Her family also very much understands them to be engaged and are thrilled.”
Hamrick then confirmed to PEOPLE magazine that the ring was given by Jagger but explained that it symbolizes more of a promise than engagement.
“I mean, I have to giggle because did Mick give me the ring? Yes. Is it for that finger? Yes,” she expressed.
“But are we like, h*rny teenagers where we’re giving each other… In my mind, it’s a promise ring. We’ll be immature and call it a promise ring.”
Speaking about the prospect of marriage, the former ballet dancer said: “I don’t know. I’m kind of like, a live-in-the-moment type of person, so who knows.”
The two, who share a son named Deveraux, 6, reportedly have no plans to tie the knot.
“We are in such similar careers, to keep it separate is better,” Hamrick said.
“It’s nice to have outside opinions, someone that isn’t in it with you. They can give you really solid advice. So I prefer the separation from work.”
She also said that she wanted privacy when it comes to her and her son’s personal lives.
