A mother has shared how she was left heartbroken when only five kids showed up to her daughter’s birthday party
Posting on Reddit, the mom explained that she invited 30 kids to celebrate her 3-year-old daughter’s birthday but only a few of them made it.
“I’m heartbroken,” she expressed. “My daughter turned three and we had her birthday party yesterday. I had over 30 kids invited and only five showed up.”
She also said that when 2 pm struck, only 1 child was there and the rest arrived at around 2:45 pm.
While her daughter did not mind having only five friends at her birthday party, the mom said she couldn’t help but cry the entire afternoon.
“As a mom, it broke my heart,” she continued. “We make a point to go to all parties whenever possible and this was her first party we threw.”
The mom also explained how she put so much effort into the party, adding that her daughter “is the sweetest child and nobody came for her.”
She also explained that it wasn’t about the gifts but she just wanted her daughter to have an amazing day.
Reddit users were quick to reassure the mom that getting five children to attend a 3-year-old’s birthday party is already a huge success.
One person commented: “Five people at a party for a three-year-old is a decent bit. I think the first birthday party I actually remember was like my 7th or 8th. Don’t beat yourself up over anything.”
Another said: “She’s three. It doesn’t matter. I remember a suggestion that the number of kids at a birthday party should equal the age of the child plus one. 30 3-year-olds would be a zoo.”
