A mother who went viral on social media for ‘straddling’ her son after his football game has been slammed again after sharing another photo of her hugging him,
Amber Wright from Utah took to Instagram and shared what she thought was just a sweet video of herself embracing her son after their victory.
But the clip, which has amassed more than 9 million views, has sparked a debate and many were quick to criticize her for the way she hugged her son.
She captioned her post at that time: “This boy will forever and always have my entire heart. When I walked up to hug my baby boy after his game, he immediately picked me up and just held me. It may have been 20 seconds, 30 seconds, a minute, I have no idea.
“But in this moment, time stood completely still. I honestly don’t know what I did to deserve you @brix_wright but I am thankful every second of every single day for you.”
But she received negative comments from people who were questioning the nature of their hug, with one person saying: “It would’ve been cute if it was his girlfriend, but not a mother.”
Another wrote: “I’m a single mom and very close to my sons. I hug them in public without hesitation – but straddling them in high heels would cross a line neither of us would be comfortable with. To each their own, but this appears to be an unusual relationship.”
A third said: “I wonder how many of his friends are allowed to stay over. My son wouldn’t be allowed for sleepovers at their house.”
In an interview with Today, Wright said: “I was so proud. I was a proud mom hugging her kid.”
She also said that she did not expect the negative reaction from people, who wanted to call child protective services.
Months later, the proud mom shared another photo of her with her legs wrapped around a man.
“Oops… did it again,” she wrote.
Comments were just as brutal as the first one, with one person writing: “This implies something so wrong – the fact you did it to your son and now a grown man.”
Another said: “And this picture is the perfect example of why it was so wrong to be doing this to your son.”
