A fuming mother has spoken out and shared a photo of the botched birthday cake that ruined her son’s celebration.
As the mom explained in her viral post, she ordered a $100 custom-made cake that was supposed to be based on the design she provided to the bakers.
Looking forward to her son’s sweet 16th, which she had spent preparing for months, the mother didn’t expect her plans would be turned upside down just hours before the event.
When the cake arrived, the dessert not only collapsed but also looked nothing like what the woman had requested. With no time to fix the issue or demand a new cake, the mother was forced to rush to the supermarket to buy a generic cake instead.
“I wanted to cry so bad because I was so upset for my son’s special day, and a party I had been planning for two months and decorated all day for. The main thing that was supposed to be the center piece of the whole party was ruined,” the disappointed mom wrote in her post.
Recalling the red flags she should have taken into consideration while talking to the baker she had hired, the mother added:
“She said she don’t do black (I don’t know if that meant she don’t like to or don’t know how to) so she said white would look better and glow.”
The mother also explained that the baker took a flattering photo of the ruined cake hiding in the box as she insisted she would never accept the order if she knew just how ugly the dessert was.
“By the time it had made it to the venue it was a mess. We tried to save it but the layers literally sunk into each other and there was nothing that could be done,” she added.
After her post went viral, the majority of people sided with the mom and told her to demand a refund.
“I would ask for a full refund or dispute it with your bank. This is unacceptable,” someone suggested.
“Seems like she needs more practice before she is charging $100 for a cake!” another said.
A third wrote: “Not even acceptable for a home baker making a free cake for family.”
