Mother Slammed For Doing Her Children’s Homework So That They ‘Won’t Get Stressed’

A mother has come under fire after revealing she does her children’s homework so that they don’t get too stressed over it.

Lottie is a mother-of-three from the States who believes homework is nothing but “extra pressure” which is why she finishes it for her Year 5 and Year 3 daughters rather than forcing them to do it on their own.

Arguing that her approach is the right way, the mother added that her children are always exhausted by the time they come home because they participate in a variety of other activities such as sports and cheerleading.

“I know every parent helps, but I will just do the homework. I’m not going to have them stress over maths problems they don’t have time to do. It may not be right but I will help,” Lottie said.

“Some of these projects these teachers give … I mean, the kids are seven years old.”

She went on to defend herself from people saying she was “coddling” her kids by insisting she is teaching them to be strong.

“I try not to baby them when they fall, I want to raise them to be strong. My biggest goal in life is to have an honest relationship with my kids,” the mom added.

After her brutally honest reveal went viral, the mother sparked a divisive debate with some people calling her a genius and others branding her as a bad mom.

“I’m so glad I’m not the only one who does my kids homework when they have other things going on,” one mom wrote.

“Homework for primary school kids is useless and counter-productive. They learn enough in school, let them play or do some general reading instead,” another parent agreed.

A third said: “My house will be a homework-free zone. Kids are in school all day and then are expected to go home and do more school work, no! Reading is acceptable, but that is it.”

Not everyone, however, was on the same page.

“Doing your child’s work for them won’t help them in the long run unless you want them to grow up to be entitled and lazy,” one mother fumed.

“I was speaking to a teacher, he said some kids wonder why my child is so good at reading/maths. It’s because he does the readers at home and the follow-up maths questions. Parents need to make the effort to work with their kids,” another user argued.
