A mother has opened up about her heartbreak after she spent a month “stressing over” her husband’s and kids’ gifts only to receive no present in return for Christmas.
Mary Yang has sparked an interesting debate on social media after revealing that she received no gifts from her husband or children on Christmas.
As the disappointed mom revealed, she spent one month stressing to make the festive season perfect for her family. She was left devastated, however, after watching her kids and husband enjoy opening their Christmas presents while no one noticed that she didn’t receive anything from anyone.
“I know I’m not the only mom who woke up Christmas morning with not a single present under the tree for them as you watched your kids and husband unwrap the presents you spent all month stressing over,” the Michigan mom complained.
In an update, she also revealed that such a situation didn’t take place only on Christmas but also on other occasions, whereas her husband allegedly hadn’t bought her any gifts for several years.
“It’s a constant struggle we have every year for the past seven years for every special occasion. You would think I would learn my lesson by now,” she added.
Soon after her post went viral, social media users were left divided. While some suggested one should give gifts without expecting anything in return, others ran to the mother’s defense saying she should confront her husband about it and make sure he understands the privilege he’s been enjoying for years.
“This happened to me. It wasn’t that I didn’t get a gift, it’s that no one even noticed I didn’t have a gift,” one mother wrote.
“Been married 20 years and have yet to get a Christmas gift… it’s the same thing every year ‘I don’t know what you want.’ How about a divorce?” another added.
A third said: “I send them all my list… best thing. Everyone happy. And I don’t end up with random stuff I have to return.”
