A mother has sparked a debate after she shared her plans to dye her 6-year-old daughter’s hair.
While many people dye their hair every day, it is a different story when it comes to kids. That’s why one mom faced backlash when she revealed that she was planning to change the color of her daughter’s hair.
Writing on Mumsnet, the mom explained that her daughter has asked her several times to have her hair dyed.
“Any recommendations as to what to use on her blonde/brown hair color?” the mom asked on the forum.
She also added: “Any reasons I shouldn’t do it? If it’s an I judge reason I’m not bothered, more checking in if it’s not worth it because it won’t last/make a difference etc.”
Mumsnet users were quick to share their thoughts, with many saying that the mom was being unreasonable for wanting to dye her daughter’s hair.
One person commented: “Nothing. She’s six. The answer is no you are not old enough. The end of discussion. You are opening yourself up to a problem because when she’s older this will be done and she won’t feel she’s growing up.”
Another wrote: “She’s six. The worrying thing is you don’t think you can say no. And you think she’s a poor hard done by darling for you saying ‘no you aren’t old enough’ because she needs a better explanation than ‘because you aren’t old enough.’”
A third added: “I wouldn’t want toxic chemicals on my child’s hair or scalp… it’s unsuitable.”
