It can be exhausting and draining to raise a family, especially when you’re not getting any help from your spouse.
One woman has revealed how she decided to hand all the responsibilities over to her husband after being physically and emotionally overwhelmed.
Laura Ben Salem has featured on the new reality show ‘Wife on Strike’ and revealed that she’s the one doing all of the household chores while looking after her five children.
The mom-of-five wakes up at 4 am every day to start her tasks and does not go to bed until after 10:30 pm.
She drives her children to school and also takes her husband to and from his commute to work. When he returns home, he takes a nap before helping out with the chres.
“He’s always holding up,” Laura expressed. “As soon as he gets home from work he’ll go straight upstairs. He doesn’t do much.”
Laura continued: “He doesn’t cook, he doesn’t clean, he doesn’t hoover, he doesn’t make the bed, he doesn’t do the washing, he doesn’t do the drying, he doesn’t put the clothes away.”
Her husband, Wassim, explained that he was brought up in a family that the mother takes care of the children, the husband, and also the house.
“The husband he’ll work hard to provide for the family. I work in the city. When I come back I wanna rest a little bit,” he added.
The exhausted wife then said that she’s tired and sick and all the work she has to do every day.
“Enough’s enough. I’m not gonna keep tidying up after them. It’s not even just physically, it’s mentally draining,” Laura said.
She then left for a week and handed over all of the responsibilities to her husband, who said: “It’s gonna be Wassim’s sweet dictatorship. One dinner for everyone and if they don’t like it, tough.”
