A woman has shared how her mother-in-law wanted to wear a white dress to her wedding day.

Posting on Reddit, the 23-year-old bride explained that she found it difficult to plan her wedding because her mom and mother-in-law both had a say in everything.

“Planning this wedding was no walk in the park and there were multiple fights between myself and the mothers – my mother and his mother – like decor, what table I wanted to use, round or square, even what style dress I wanted to wear,” she wrote.

“But the cherry on the cake was my mother-in-law’s outfit she was planning on wearing,” the bride said.

After announcing a strict ‘no white’ dress code policy, she was petrified to learn that her mother-in-law wanted to wear a white dress.

The woman then devised a plan with her sister and bridesmaids to punish any guest who arrived wearing a white dress.

“And so the ‘Jacket of Shame’ idea started,” she went on.

“My sister helped me shop for the perfect jacket. A yellow reflective jacket you see construction workers wear. My sister set up a decorating station at my bridal shower to decorate it and it turned out to be quite the hit.

“My friends and family members enjoyed writing things like: ‘How dare you show up in white,’ ‘Are you the bride? I think not.’”

With the ‘Jacket of Shame’ ready for anyone who turned up in white, the mother-in-law changed her attire and wore black.

“She wore a funeral outfit to our wedding. I took it as a win, but I keep getting shade every now and then from his mother and aunt about how inappropriate the jacket was and that I was such a b****,” she added.
