A mother who has been slammed for putting her toddler on a leash whenever they go out has defended her decision to do so.
Rachel Butcher was forced to hit back after receiving hurtful remarks for her way of keeping an eye on her son.
Speaking via Brightside, she said: “My child runs faster than me.”
Rachel continued: “Due to the scar from my hysterectomy, I have trouble running sometimes to keep up with him. Let it also be known, I religiously ran races and ran every day before my surgery. So it’s not due to laziness.”
She explained that her adopted son has more speed than average 21-month-old children.
“Aside from his already rough beginning of medicine exposure, we know little to nothing about his biological family and their genetics. So he could be more hyper just from experiences that I don’t know of,” the mother expressed.
Rachel also explained that her son doesn’t like to be confined. “I’ve come home crying because I’ve left stores before finishing shopping because he’s having a meltdown, I also got snide comments and nasty looks then too,” she shared.
“But today, today was worse. We went to Target and he wore his backpack and he did AMAZING. He was HAPPY, LAUGHING, SMILING, and yes, running, but he was close to me.”
This comes after another mother, YouTube sensation Ms. Rachel, revealed that she dresses her son for school at night.
“We put on a nice new shirt, sweatpants – super comfy and great for jammies – and then when he wakes up we just thrown on sneakers. Someday I’ll teach him to wake up for school and get dressed and that will be a very good thing to teach, but I can’t do that right now,” Ms. Rachel said.
“And that’s OK I’m doing my best and so are you and I love you. He bathes at night, he doesn’t get sweaty at night. If he did, we’d grab new clothes.”
